Develop cultural awareness and competency
Students will enhance their awareness of Pacific cultures and increase cultural competency relevant to diverse settings.

Critical thinking and problem-solving
Students will demonstrate critical thinking, synthesis and evaluation skills in debating and considering ideas using academic literature and resources related to the Pacific.

Communication and leadership
Students gain skills in written and verbal communication and demonstrate leadership in diverse group settings.
What You're Signing Up For
Pacific Studies at the University of Auckland provides interdisciplinary understanding of Pacific peoples, cultures, and societies both in the Pacific Islands and in the diaspora. Students explore Pacific histories, identities, languages (including Samoan, Cook Islands Reo, and Tongan), Indigenous epistemologies, dance, performance, social anthropology, contemporary issues, and further develop skills in critical thinking, leadership, and communication.
