What You're Signing Up For

The NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2) Hospitality Pathway is designed to meet the high demand for skilled hospitality staff in New Zealand and internationally. The programme offers hands-on practical learning led by experienced tutors in purpose-built facilities. It covers food and beverage management, customer service, marketing and sales, event management, hospitality finance, and technology applications in hospitality. This programme prepares students for entry-level roles and progression to higher-level certifications or other study pathways. It is open to domestic students aged 16-24 under Youth Guarantee and is not available to international students.

Course Content

  • Food and Beverage Management: menu planning, food preparation, beverage service, restaurant operations
  • Customer Service in Hospitality: guest relations, complaint handling, customer experience
  • Hospitality Marketing and Sales: promotion strategies, branding, digital marketing, revenue management
  • Event Management: planning and executing events and conferences in hospitality
  • Hospitality Finance: budgeting, cost control, profitability analysis
  • Hospitality Technology: reservation systems, point-of-sale, guest management software

What you need to know first

Open to domestic students aged 16-24 under Youth Guarantee

Sufficient competence in English to undertake programme taught and assessed in English

Programme not available to international students
