What You're Signing Up For
Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is a mandatory short course for anyone who needs to sell or supply alcohol in New Zealand hospitality venues. The course covers the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, host responsibility requirements, and duties of managers of licensed premises. It is delivered online via interactive live tuition or on campus in Auckland. On completion, students earn NZQA credits and a certificate required for application to become a certified manager of licensed alcohol premises.
Course Content
- NZQA Unit Standard 4646: Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
- NZQA Unit Standard 16705: Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises
- Responsibilities of licensees and duty managers
- The licensing process and licensing laws
- Host responsibility policies and their implementation
- Legal implications and compliance for alcohol sales and service
- Application process for General Manager Certificate
What you need to know first
Aged 18 or over to sit the course
Must provide approved identification
English language proficiency (NCEA Level 2 recommended or IELTS 5.5)
Access to computer with camera, microphone, and speakers (for online option)
Google account required for online assessment
