The Certificate in Spirits, Cocktails, and Bartending (Micro-Credential) provides practical, hands-on training in bartending, product knowledge, as well as customer service and communication skills for people wishing to work in bars and restaurants. The course focuses on classic cocktails and responsible service of alcohol, building knowledge and skills aligned with industry standards and the Sale of Alcohol Act 2012.

Course Content

  • Identify and describe the key equipment and tools of a professional bar
  • Identify and describe characteristics and production methods of the main spirits categories and liqueurs used in bars and restaurants
  • Prepare classic cocktails served in bars and restaurants
  • Serve, advise, and prepare a wide selection of alcohol-based drinks including cocktails and liqueurs
  • Study host responsibility as required by the Sale of Alcohol Act 2012
  • Develop customer service and communication skills relevant to hospitality workplaces
