This short course introduces participants to major New Zealand wine styles, the characteristics that differentiate them, and the key wine regions across the country. Students will learn about food and wine matching, with practical sessions involving wine tasting and comparative analysis. The course is suitable for those pursuing careers in hospitality, wine service, or viticulture-related roles.

  • Daily wine tasting — three wines per session
  • Comparative analysis of wine characteristics

What you need to know first

Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level.

Physically able to complete the programme-specific outcomes.

Must be at least 18 years old at time of enrolment (for wine tasting).

For applicants whose first language is not English: IELTS score of 5.5 with no band lower than 5, or internationally accepted equivalent.
