What You're Signing Up For

Telford Horticulture is a STAR short course designed for New Zealand secondary school students. The course introduces participants to key aspects of the horticulture industry in New Zealand, covering topics such as production horticulture, plant production, identification and control of weeds, and plant nomenclature. Entry is via the STAR/Gateway coordinator at eligible NZ secondary schools.

Course Content

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the production horticulture industry in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant production in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant nomenclature
  • Identify and describe weeds, and methods of prevention and control
  • Identify a range of plants by botanical and common names, and their basic features
