What You're Signing Up For

Telford Horticulture is a STAR course intended for New Zealand secondary school students, delivered at the Telford Campus. The course introduces students to the horticulture industry in New Zealand, knowledge of plant production and nomenclature, weed identification and management, and recognition of a variety of plants by their botanic and common names and features. It is only available via application through schools' STAR/Gateway coordinators.

Course Content

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the production horticulture industry in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant production in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant nomenclature
  • Identify and describe weeds, and methods of prevention and control
  • Identify a range of plants by botanical & common name, and their basic features
