What You're Signing Up For

This STAR course is designed for New Zealand secondary school students interested in electrical and electronic trades. Students gain foundational skills that apply to various roles, such as Registered Electrician, Electronic Manufacturer, Appliance Serviceman, and more. The course covers the use of electrical test instruments and introduces concepts and measurements necessary for electronics. Only available via application from a school's STAR/Gateway coordinator.

Course Content

  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical test instruments and take measurements (Unit Standard US750, Level 2, Credits: 2)
  • Demonstrate introductory knowledge of circuit concepts and measurements for electronics (Unit Standard US18239, Level 2, Credits: 5)
  • Introduction to electrical and electronic trades (scope includes Registered Electrician, Electronic Manufacturer, Appliance Serviceman, etc.)

Available only to NZ secondary school students via STAR/Gateway application through their school's nominated STAR/Gateway Co-ordinator.
