Operate a powered industrial lift truck (forklift)
Students will be able to safely and effectively operate a forklift to industry standards, as specified by Unit Standard 10851.

Understand Worksafe forklift safety requirements
Students will gain knowledge of the relevant health and safety requirements for forklift operation as mandated by Worksafe NZ.

Industry experience and insights
Students will obtain an understanding of the road transport, distribution, and warehousing industries, assisting them in making informed career choices.
What You're Signing Up For
The UCOL STAR Forklift Safety course provides secondary school learners with hands-on training in both the theory and practical aspects of safe forklift operation. Students will gain exposure to the road transport, distribution, and warehousing industries, and will be equipped with skills required to meet Worksafe forklift operator safety standards. The course is part of the STAR initiative, allowing secondary students to start building industry-relevant skills while still in school.

What you need to know first
For year 11 - 13 secondary school learners (NZ Citizens, permanent residents, or visa holders eligible to enroll in a secondary school)
Applications must be received from participating schools
