What You're Signing Up For

The UCOL STAR Beauty course is a Level 2 programme aimed at secondary school learners (Years 11-13) interested in cosmetics and skincare. It introduces students to beauty therapy techniques and offers insight into the beauty industry, covering topics such as the history of beauty therapy and fashion trends in a practical and engaging environment. The course runs one day per week over five weeks at UCOL campuses in Palmerston North, Whanganui, and Wairarapa. Upon successful completion, students earn 3 credits and gain foundational skills to pursue further studies or careers in beauty therapy.

  • History of beauty therapy and relation to fashion trends
  • Practical training in manicures
  • Make-up application techniques
  • Skin care including facials and masks
  • Use of biological masks
  • Unit Standard 27640 - Demonstrate knowledge of current fashion trends and history related to beauty therapy
