This course takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding contemporary urban environments. Through the lens of sociology, human geography, political science, economics, and planning, students will explore how cities form, function, and confront challenges. Key focus areas include the history and social composition of cities, the role of social science in urban understanding, and major issues facing urban residents and managers today.
